ZIP Package & Installation Guide

A simple guide for colleges downloading and deploying the distribution packages. The current release procedures are shown below for convenience. The README and installation guide inside each downloaded ZIP remain the release-specific documentation.

Choose the correct ZIP

Download the Attendance System, College Fee Management System or MCQ Practice Portal package from the download section below. Check the version shown on the button before downloading.

Extract the package

Save the ZIP on your computer and extract it before installation. Do not use the ZIP filename itself as the web-server directory; work with the extracted application files.

Read the included README

Start with the README supplied with the release. It is the authoritative guide for that particular version, including prerequisites, configuration and installation steps.

Prepare the server

These applications are designed for PHP/MySQL or MariaDB environments. They can be deployed on a local server, a subdomain, or a supported web-server subdirectory.

Complete configuration

Follow the release instructions for database setup and application configuration. If the package provides a web installer, complete it using the database details required by the release.

Secure the installation

After successful setup, follow the package instructions for removing or disabling installation files. For attendance and fee systems, remove the install folder; for the MCQ Practice Portal, delete or rename install.php.

Test before production use

Log in, verify the database connection, test the major workflows, check reports and confirm that backups work before using the system for live college records.

Keep the release package

Keep an untouched copy of the downloaded ZIP and its README for future reference. Record the installed version so later upgrades can be performed against the correct release.

Important: The following procedures are provided for convenience and match the current release packages listed on this page. The README, INSTALL.txt and other guides included inside each ZIP should still be retained as the release documentation. Never upload database passwords into this webpage.

Polytechnic Attendance Maintenance System — v1.10.25

Recommended for cPanel/subdomain hosting, localhost/XAMPP, and supported web-server subdirectories.
  1. Download and extract: Download Polytechnic_Attendance_v1.10.25_Distribution.zip and extract it on your computer.
  2. Create the database: On cPanel, open MySQL Databases, create a database and database user, then assign the user to the database with the required privileges. On XAMPP/local server, create an empty MySQL/MariaDB database.
  3. Upload the application: Upload the extracted application files into the document root of your subdomain, for example attendance.example.com/. For subdirectory hosting, place them in the intended directory such as example.com/attendance/.
  4. Open the installer: Visit /install/setup.php. For example, use https://attendance.example.com/install/setup.php.
  5. Enter database details: Provide the database host, database name, database username and database password requested by the installer. Do not use the cPanel account password in place of the MySQL password.
  6. Complete administrator setup: Set the administrator credentials requested by the installer and finish the installation. The installer creates the application database configuration and installation lock.
  7. Test the application: Log in and test staff/student records, attendance entry, reports, PDF generation, backups and the main workflows before using live data.
  8. Secure the installation: After successful installation, remove the install directory as instructed by the package documentation. Keep the original ZIP and included installation guide as your release backup.
HTTPS: Use the HTTPS installer URL when SSL is active. You do not need to disable SSL to install the attendance system.
If you see HTTP 500: Check the PHP version/extensions, database credentials, server error log and directory permissions. Do not repeatedly reinstall over a partially configured installation without checking the error first.

College Fee Management System (CFMS) — v1.9.21

Web installer included for subdomain/shared hosting and local-server deployment.
  1. Download and extract: Download College_Fee_Management_v1.9.21_Distribution.zip and extract the package.
  2. Create the database: In cPanel, create the MySQL/MariaDB database and user and assign the user to the database. On XAMPP/local server, create an empty database. The installer does not require permission to create the database itself.
  3. Upload the application: Upload the extracted files into the subdomain document root or supported web-server subdirectory.
  4. Open the installer: Visit /install/setup.php. For example, https://fee.example.com/install/setup.php.
  5. Enter database details: Enter the database host, database name, database username and database password shown/created by your hosting provider. The installer validates the connection before continuing.
  6. Set application details: Enter the requested college/site information and create the first administrator account. The installer generates the application secret and writes the local database configuration.
  7. Finish installation: Allow the installer to create/import the required database tables and mark the installation as complete.
  8. Test the system: Log in and verify student master data, fee structure, fee collection, receipts, TC, Bonafide, reports and backup/restore functions before production use.
  9. Secure the installation: Delete the install directory after successful setup, then keep a secure copy of the original distribution ZIP and installation documentation.
HTTPS: The installer is intended to work through HTTPS. A browser “Not secure” warning is normally an SSL/certificate configuration issue at the hosting level and should not be solved by disabling HTTPS.
If you see HTTP 500: Check the hosting PHP version/extensions and server error log. Confirm that the database credentials belong to the database you created and that the application files are in the correct document root.

MCQ Practice Portal — v2.9.29

Web installer (install.php) for cPanel/shared hosting, subdomain, subdirectory and local XAMPP deployment. Requires PHP 8.0+.
  1. Download and extract: Download mcq-practice-portal-v2.9.29.zip and extract it on your computer.
  2. Create the database: In cPanel, create a MySQL/MariaDB database and user, then grant the user ALL PRIVILEGES on that database. On XAMPP/local server, create an empty database. The installer does not create the database itself.
  3. Upload the application: Upload the extracted application files into the document root of your domain or subdomain (e.g. mcq.example.com/), or into a subdirectory such as example.com/mcq/.
  4. Open the installer: Visit /install.php. For example, https://mcq.example.com/install.php or https://example.com/mcq/install.php.
  5. Enter database details: Provide the existing database name, username and password. Create the administrator name, email and password when prompted. Credentials are saved to config/database.local.php — keep this file on future updates.
  6. Complete installation: Allow the installer to create the required tables and finish setup.
  7. Secure the installation: After success, delete or rename install.php. Do not leave the installer accessible on a production site.
  8. First admin steps: Log in at /admin/login.php. Configure College Profile (logo, open practice, practice defaults), then set up Departments → Subjects → Units, import or add questions, import managed students (Admin only), and create Test Templates.
  9. Test before production: Verify student login (managed: Register Number + mobile; open practice: Email + Registration number), take a practice test, check results, roster, analytics, backup and restore.
PHP extensions: Ensure PDO, pdo_mysql, mbstring, openssl and ZipArchive (for Excel .xlsx import) are enabled. PHP 8.0+ is required; 8.1/8.2 recommended.
Updates: When upgrading from an older version, backup the database and files first, preserve config/database.local.php, replace application files, and apply any new sql/migrate_*.sql scripts listed in the package CHANGELOG. Do not run install.php again on an existing installation.

Can I install the systems inside a normal website subdirectory?
Yes. The current deployment specification supports web-server subdirectories such as example.com/fee or example.com/attendance. Use the package installer and test the generated links after installation.
Can I install the software on localhost or XAMPP?
Yes. All products are intended to support local-server deployment. Create the required MySQL/MariaDB database, place the application in the web root, and follow the installation guide included in the ZIP.
Do I need to create the MySQL database before running the installer?
For shared hosting/cPanel, yes. Create the database and database user in the hosting control panel and assign the user to the database. The installers are designed so they do not depend on the ability to create a new database from PHP.
What should I do if the installer shows HTTP ERROR 500?
First check the hosting PHP version, required PHP extensions, database credentials, file permissions and the server's PHP/Apache error log. A 500 error is normally a server-side PHP/configuration problem; disabling HTTPS is not a recommended fix.
Why does my browser say “Not secure” even though the installer opens?
The browser warning is normally related to the SSL/TLS certificate or HTTPS configuration of the domain or subdomain. Verify that the certificate covers the exact hostname and that the hosting account is serving the site over HTTPS. The application should not require you to disable SSL.
What database credentials should I enter during installation?
Enter the database host, database name, database username and database password created for the application. On cPanel, the database and username may include the hosting account prefix, so copy the values exactly as shown in the hosting control panel.
Should I upload the ZIP file directly to the website?
Normally you should extract the distribution package and upload its application contents to the intended document root or subdirectory. Do not leave the application buried inside an unintended extra folder unless that folder is the desired web path.
What should I do after a successful installation?
Log in and test the major workflows before entering live data. Then remove the installer directory when instructed by the package documentation, keep a secure backup of the distribution package, and configure regular database/file backups appropriate for your hosting environment.
Can I move an installed system from localhost to a web server?
The deployment environments are supported, but migration should be treated as a controlled deployment: move the application files, export/import the database, update the database configuration for the new server, verify the base URL/path, permissions and PHP environment, and test before going live.
Where can I find the complete installation instructions?

Are the Attendance and Fee Management systems dependent on each other?
